The Industrial Engineering and Managemnet Unit (UGEI) is part of INESC TEC - INESC Technology and Science, Associate Laboratory, a unique organization devoted to science, technology, innovation, advanced training and knowledge valorization. UGEI is also one of the five units of the Mechanical Engineering Institute (IDMEC-Porto).
UGEI aims to produce problem-driven knowledge centered in three main fields:
- Service Engineering and Design;
- Decision Support and Intelligent Systems;
- Performance Management and Business Intelligence.
UGEI works at the intersection of engineering, management and social sciences, at the cutting edge between theory and practice.
Its research projects based upon real-world problems: Application / problem solving oriented stance - which obviously encompasses the development of innovative theoretical work leading to multidisciplinar projects mainly in Health, Retail, Mobility and Manufacturing.
